Environmental toxins

Environmental toxins are substances that poison the environment (water, soil, air, plants, animals, humans, etc.). The best-known environmental toxins include plasticisers (phthalates), which are used in the production of soft plastics (e.g. dog toys, product packaging, but also cables). These are absorbed through food or the skin. Some environmental toxins, such as heavy metals, are also found in small quantities in cosmetic products (e.g. powders, creams).
