Hot Spot

A “hot spot” is also known as “acute moist dermatitis” and is a skin condition that can occur, especially in dogs. If a dog suffers from itching or skin irritation in a particular area, frequent licking or scratching can cause a hot spot. The condition can be fueled by a variety of factors such as allergies, dampness, insect bites, injuries or parasite infestations. It is important to watch for changes in the skin and to consult a veterinarian if a hot spot is suspected.
