Orthopaedics deals with the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system of humans and animals. These are usually diseases or injuries affecting bones, joints, muscles, tendons or ligaments, such as joint and back pain, deformities and stiffness, rheumatic diseases or metabolic diseases that can affect the skeleton.
